All about me

For over 20 years, I’ve had the joy of working with children and families — from tiny nursery starters to confident Year 6 pupils. Teaching has always been more than a job for me. I’ve loved getting to know each child, understanding what makes them feel safe, and helping them grow in their own unique way.

Over the years, I’ve taken on roles that have deepened my understanding of children’s wellbeing. As a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher for Looked After Children, I’ve supported some of our most vulnerable pupils with care, sensitivity, and consistency. I’ve also worked closely with children who have additional needs, preparing Personal Education Plans and making sure they receive the right support both in school and at home.

All of this experience has shaped the way I work today — with warmth, patience, and a genuine belief that every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported.

WHO AM I?

I’m a mum to two grown‑up children and a very proud grandma to three lively grandsons and one beautiful little princess, all between 6 months and 3 years old. Watching them grow brings back so many memories — it feels like yesterday that I was a young mum myself, exhausted from sleepless nights and trying to cope with a baby who simply wouldn’t settle. Those days were a blur of tiredness, and I often wished there had been someone professional to turn to for guidance and reassurance.

Now, with the experience of both motherhood and grandmotherhood, I’ve seen just how different children can be. Two of my grandchildren settled and slept independently from early on, while two really struggled. But with consistency, patience, and personalised support, they’ve become confident, happy sleepers. These experiences — both personal and professional — have shaped my passion for helping families find calm, confidence, and rest during the early years.

Autism and Anxiety

During my years as a primary teacher, I worked closely with many autistic children and families who were struggling with sleep. I saw first-hand how exhausting and overwhelming this could be — not only for the child, but for the whole family. Poor sleep often affected emotional wellbeing, anxiety levels, learning and everyday family life, yet many parents felt there was very little specialist support available to them.

After retraining as a certified sleep consultant, I realised how many parents of children with additional or more complex needs would be struggling to find gentle, appropriate sleep support. Traditional approaches are not always suitable for every child, particularly those with sensory differences, anxiety or neurodivergence.

This led me to further train as a certified autism and anxiety sleep consultant, allowing me to provide more tailored, responsive support for families whose children may need a different approach.

My aim is always to help families move towards calmer nights, more restful sleep and routines that feel supportive, realistic and right for their individual child.
